Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam.

If you use Gravatar, an anonymized string (hash) of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you’re using it. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images, please avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract location data from uploaded images.

Cookies

  • If you leave a comment, you may opt‑in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These last for one year.
  • Login pages set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
  • When you log in, cookies store your login info and display preferences. Login cookies last two days; screen option cookies last one year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps you logged in for two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
  • Editing or publishing an article saves an additional cookie with the post ID. It expires after one day.

Embedded Content

Articles may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you visited those sites directly. These sites may collect data, use cookies, and track your interaction if you’re logged in to their platform.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Data Retention

  • Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely to recognize and approve follow‑up comments automatically.
  • For registered users, we store the personal information provided in their profile. Users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except usernames). Administrators can also view and edit this information.

Your Rights

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request:

  • An exported file of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Erasure of any personal data we hold, except data we must retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
